Meet Our Team

David Allen Powell

Owner/Founder Pyramid Paving LLC, Chairman, S&N Communications, Inc.

Allen Powell has 39 years of utility industry experience in the facility locating and excavation business. Allen began his career in the cable and communications industry in 1983 and worked for numerous companies including GE Cablevision, Future vision and TCI Cablevision.

In 1993, Allen founded his own company, Pyramid Construction of Virginia, Inc., to perform outside plant infrastructure services throughout Virginia. In 1995, Allen saw the advantages of teaming up with a larger company and sold his business to S&N Communications.

Today, Allen is also the Chairman of S&N Communications, Inc. In this role, Allen manages and leads an experienced team of 230 in-house professionals providing all aspects of facility locating and excavating, for telecommunications, and electric utilities throughout Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic and Alabama.

A big believer in reliable and cost-effective service to the utility industry, Allen is a visible and active supporter of the Virginia Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act. He has seen first-hand how doing things the right way, utilizing technology, advancing superior training programs, and treating people with respect make for Good Business-

In early 2024 Allen founded Pyramid Paving llc and handpicked the best people in the industry to operate Pyramid Paving at the highest levels of service and quality for business, municipality and home owner paving projects throughout Virginia.

Also involved in philanthropy, Allen can be found hauling his cooker across the state of Virginia and preparing hundreds of meals for special events and fundraisers. In addition to Allen's leadership in the utility locating and excavating industry, he is the father of seven children.

Kenny Mawyer

Director of Operations

Kenny Mawyer has more than 17 years in the asphalt/ paving industry. Kenny specializes in major highway construction and repair, is certified by VDOT, and has a class A license. From shovel man to Crew Superintendent, Kenny has complete knowledge of every position and aspect of the process. Kenny enjoys crafting the perfect asphalt application for any need and every unique paving situation.

Kenny has many years experience with asphalt and patching services. He has a passion to make this company grow and be the point of contact for previous and future estimates and projects.

He has tons of patience and a kind/helpful personality to understand what our customers hope for in their project, and the ability to make it become reality.

When not at work, Kenny coaches girls' softball and spends quality time with family and friends.

Lauren Mawyer

Office Manager

Lauren had a career in the banking industry for 15 years, starting as a teller and ending as office manager. Lauren worked as an Administrative Assistant doing Accounts Receivable and processing Hired Trucker payroll for another paving firm before finding her home at Pyramid Paving.

Lauren is committed to helping Pyramid grow and become the best it can be by providing exceptional customer service and a point of contact for all customers to ask questions and become familiar with Pyramid and what we have to offer.

Aside from work, Lauren loves gardening and caring for her small homestead of chickens, dogs, and ducks just like she takes care of all Pyramid paving's employees and Customers!
